By 2018, once-promising studio Beloved was broke, exhausted, and desperate. Their grand RPG had collapsed, their investors were gone, and all that remained was a half-working endless runner prototype. So they did what any dying studio would do: stuffed it full of lootboxes and called it social satire.

Gacha Run lets players jump through a blank gray world, earning coins to roll for “content”: backgrounds, sound effects, even the ability to see coins at all.
